“There are times where I think that Sal Paradise was right… boys and girls in America have such a sad time together…” -The Hold Steady ‘Stuck Between Stations’
Jack Kerouac’s classic novel, On The Road, has inspired more road trips and more art than almost every other book from the beat generations, yet, somehow, despite many attempts, it has managed to evade film (for good reason), until now.
An all-star cast including Amy Adams, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Steve Buscemi and Terrence Howard, is led by two relatively unknowns in the lead roles, Sam Riley and Garrett Hedlund.
The trailer mainly features bits of dialogue from Kerouac’s brilliant book, which sound great when set to music and film. But, if this film were made correctly, it would sink under the weight of Kerouac’s brilliant writing.
Will this rollicking, meandering road trip translate to the big screen, geeks?
