In 2009 the site StarWarsUncut.com started a project that was unlike anything that had been done before. It looked to put the fans in control of one of the most ambitious fan films in history. Star Wars fans would sign up for a specific 15 second section of the original Star Wars: A New Hope, then those fans would recreate their scene using any method they wanted. It didn’t matter if it was live action, computer generated, stop-motion, narration over hand drawn pictures or anything else, fans were left to interpret the film how they saw fit. They would then upload their 15 second fan film and the creators of the site would stitch them all together to create the world’s most collaborative fan film.
To the delight of fans across the world, the completed project has finally been released to the public. It’s hard not to spout hyperbole about a project like this, which I personally find incredibly awesome. Fans of one of the biggest ‘geek’ properties in history, coming together to create something like this is why i’m proud to be a geek.
The full fan film runs just under two hours and four minutes, so grab some popcorn and get ready to take in the hard work of some of the biggest Star Wars fans on the planet. Everything from CGI R2D2 to kids wrapped in towels pretending to be Jawas awaits, you won’t want to miss it.

This is awesome!!!
I downloaded this just the other day. It’s BEAUTIFUL!
