Jenkins (dir. Monster, Entourage, The Killing) has left Thor 2 due to “creative differences”. Deadline is hopeful that she’s still on friendly terms with the studio, and may yet pick up the directorship of another Marvel film, although likely not a sequel. I’ve suddenly got visions of a Black Widow movie dancing behind my eyes, but I’m sad to see Jenkins leave the god of thunder floundering for a new person to take the helm.
What’s the word, geeks? Should Marvel try once more to swing Kenneth Branagh for a repeat of Thor‘s success? Personally, I’d love to see the likes of Guillermo del Toro (dir. Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy II: The Golden Army) take a swing at this particular franchise. Whatever they do, they better act fast– Thor 2 has a set release date of November 15.
