Rumor: LG to show off TVs with integrated Google TV at CES

After news that Logitech, one of the biggest supporters, was getting out of the Google TV business many people thought that the platform was done. But now Bloomberg is reporting that ‘people with knowledge of the project’ say that LG could feature televisions with integrated Google TV at the 2012 Consumer Electronic Show (CES).

These rumors come after recent rumblings from both Apple and Sony, saying they’ll be showing new television technology at this year’s show as well. Whether or not these TVs actually make it to the show floor is another story entirely. If you remember back to the beginning of this year LG, Toshiba and Sharp all planed to show off Google TV sets…but never did. Those delays were mainly to do with software delays from Google, and with Google TV 2.0′s recent debut there should be no concern about that.

While new hardware is great, in the end content is king. If Google or Apple (or anyone else who wants to get into the connect-TV game) doesn’t announce content partnerships with major networks and/or distributors at the same time they debut their new tech, they’ll suffer the same fate as the current version of Google TV. If you really can’t wait to hear the news at CES 2012 in January and you need a Internet Connected TV…Just get a HTPC and You’ll be able to access everything you what.
